Solola it the name of one of the western provinces of Guatemala that is full of natural wonders like mountains with pinewood forests in the north and volcanoes and tropical jungles in the south.

The main attraction of the area is the Atitlan Lake, one of the marvels of nature, nestled in his volcanic basin at 2200 masl and surrounded by mountains and volcanoes, his crystal-clear waters attracts many visitors around the world.

It has been called "the most beauty lake in the world", and if it is true or not, the point is that the lake and its surrounding area are one on the major touristic attractions in Guatemala.

But the lake is not just a natural attraction, but a cultural one as well. All around the shores of the lake there are many indian villages, that conserve ancestral ways of living. Spaniard colonial churches share space with colorful indian ceremonies. As a signal of the spaniard conquer, some of the villages of the shores have the names of the apostles of Christ.

The village of Panajachel, in the north shore is where most of hotels and commodities for the visitor are found. This is the starting point for excursions to the smaller indigenous villages on the western and southern shores of the lake.
